Love

What is "Love"? According to the dictionary it's "an intense feeling of deep affection". But what does that mean? Some people confuse love with lust, or love with admiration. What is love?

February is the month that people try to quantify or display love with tokens of affection - flowers, candy, romantic dinners and trips, or........the ring! A lot of people get engaged or married on Valentine's Day - it's a big day for courthouse weddings!

Some people feel unloved if they don't receive a gift from their lover, boyfriend/girlfriend or spouse on Valentine's Day. Some people feel that celebrating Valentines Day is a commercialized cliche and that you should show love every day.

I challenge you find to find new and different ways to show love to those you love this month - whether it's your lover/spouse, children, parents or friends, show them love in an unexpected way: get your fiance's car detailed, watch your best friend's children so she can go on a date, cook your mom and dad dinner on Sunday......these are all ideas that show you know what they like and also that give a piece of YOU - your time is much more valuable than anything that you can ever buy. My dad always told me - money comes and goes.....you can always get more money. Time is what is really valuable - they're not making any more!

However you feel about showing love, make sure that you show love to everyone you love as often as you can because tomorrow is promised to no one.

Love, Sidney!
