Family History

Weddings are a time when families come together for a happy occasion. People travel around the world to attend the wedding of a favorite relative or best friend. Weddings are an important part of a family's history and because of this, most couples have their wedding documented with photos. But what about the rest of your family photos? Are they being preserved for future generations? Who is your family keeper of the photos? More importantly - does everyone have access to these photos? Some things to think about as your prepare to have your very important event documented:

Gathering and Preserving Family Photos: Many families have old family photos that have been lost or damaged in some way or were not stored properly. The photo may have yellowed, been subjected to water or mold damage, become creased or torn, etc. Someone in the family - usually an older family member - is the keeper of the photos. A lot of times, this keeper will not let the photos out of their site for fear of losing them forever! Some photos sit in albums or boxes in the bottom drawer of someones dresser - never to be seen again. Find out who your family's keeper of the photos is and make arrangements to have the photos scanned and identified so that all members of the family have access to them.

Weddings are an optimum time to gather more family history and disseminate it among the family. Hire a company that uses digital imaging services to capture and copy family artifacts to enable families to share - and preserve - family history for generations to come.

Family History Sharing:

All family history should be shared. There are a variety of methods to do this: copies of photos, video or audio files, photo albums, photo & video slideshows, family websites, family photo share sites, dvd's, flash drives, external hard drives, or email. Custom albums can be created to give as gifts or to document a particular event. Family reunion books can also be created for you - capturing family matriarchs, patriarchs, property, marriages, births, etc. - your rich family history documented forever.
